A new staging of Agatha Christie's mystery with Hercule Poirot, starring Peter Polycarpou, at the Theatre Royal Newcastle.
The Hollow comes to the Theatre Royal Newcastle on Tuesday 10 November, with a second day of shows on Wednesday 11 November. It's a new staging of one of Agatha Christie's most compelling mysteries, and it's got Hercule Poirot at its centre.
The plot is classic Christie: a weekend at an elegant country estate turns fatal when a game of romantic 'follow my leader' goes wrong. John Cristow refuses to divorce his wife to marry his ex-love, Veronica Craye, and she vows that if she cannot have him, no one else shall. Cristow ends up dead, and nearly everyone there has a motive and some the opportunity. Poirot is drawn in when his expected quiet country break vanishes, and the killer remains to be discovered.
Peter Polycarpou takes the role of Poirot, and he's joined by a large cast: Luke Allen-Gale plays both John Cristow and Inspector Colquhoun, and Kemi-Bo Jacobs is Veronica Craye. The rest of the ensemble includes Victoria Blunt, James Clyde, Grace Darling, Sarah Moyle, Noella Naibaho, Michael Praed, James Sheldon, Tilly Steele and Paula Hines. It's directed by Lucy Bailey and Ginny Schiller, with an adaptation by Tamsin Oglesby. The production is by Fiery Angel, in association with Agatha Christie Limited and the Marlowe Theatre, and it follows their sell-out tours of Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile.
