Stand-up comedy show by Sooz Kempner about finding her voice and facing imposter syndrome.
Sooz Kempner brings her stand-up show Imposter to Northern Stage on Saturday 5 December. It's a solo comedy set that centres on a few things most of us know well: finding your voice and dealing with imposter syndrome — that nagging feeling that you're just pretending and someone's about to find you out.
Kempner builds the show around those two threads, and the title Imposter points straight to the latter. It's the kind of material that works because it's something a lot of people recognise, even if they don't always talk about it. The whole thing is a stand-up show, so it's just her on stage with a microphone, working through the stories and the jokes she's put together around those themes.
The show is being held in Stage 2 at Northern Stage, which is right here in Newcastle upon Tyne. If you've been to the venue before, you'll know it's a dedicated space for this kind of work, and Stage 2 keeps things focused on the performance. It's a single-night date, so if you want to catch it, Saturday 5 December is the one.
