Hayseed Dixie celebrate 25 years of rockgrass at Boiler Shop.
Hayseed Dixie are playing Boiler Shop on Thursday 22 October, and there's a bit more to the night than just a standard gig. They're celebrating 25 years of what they call rockgrass — their own take on bluegrass played with the energy and volume of a rock band. It's a quarter-century of that sound, and this is one of the dates they've put together to mark it.
If you've never come across them, the name gives you a fair idea of the territory. Bluegrass is the root — the banjos, the fiddles, the fast picking — but they push it into rock territory, so it's less about the front porch and more about the stage. They've been at it for twenty-five years now, and this show is built around that anniversary.
It's a single-act bill, so the whole set is theirs. The night is billed as Hayseed Dixie celebrating 25 years of rockgrass, and they're the only name on the poster. The music they've built around that rockgrass label is exactly what they'll be bringing to the stage — that mix of bluegrass roots and rock energy they've been playing since they started.
