A daytime disco event curated by Jon McClure of Reverend & the Makers, offering a safe, no-dress-code party atmosphere.
Day Fever is back at Boiler Shop on Saturday 19 December, the third of three Newcastle dates this autumn. It's a daytime disco, and the whole thing kicks off at 3:00pm, so you're in and out while it's still light — which is exactly the point. The other two dates are Saturday 24 October and Saturday 28 November, both also at 3:00pm, so if you can't make the December one, you've got two other chances to catch it.
Day Fever was started in 2024 by Vicky McClure, Jonny Owen, and Jon McClure of Reverend & The Makers. They bill it as "the day-time disco that doesn't ruin your Sunday", and since then it's spread across the UK and Ireland, with thousands of people filling clubs and theatres every weekend. The music is personally curated by Jon McClure alongside Vicky, Jonny, and the rest of the gang, and they draw from the greatest hits of the 20th century. It's a broad sweep of a set, so you'll hear a lot of familiar ground rather than anything too niche.
Beyond the music, they're keen on keeping things easygoing. They describe it as a safe space with no dress code and no egos, so you can turn up as you are without worrying about what you're wearing. The Newcastle venue is a ground-floor room, and there's an accessible viewing platform and an accessible toilet near the entrance, so it's set up for everyone to get in and around without any fuss.
