The smash-hit Broadway and West End musical Hadestown on its first UK and Ireland tour, blending folk, jazz, blues and contemporary American music.
Hadestown comes to the Theatre Royal from Tuesday 1 June to Saturday 5 June 2027, as part of its first ever UK and Ireland tour. It's the Broadway and West End musical by singer-songwriter AnaΓ―s Mitchell and director Rachel Chavkin, and it's playing on the Main Stage at 100 Grey Street, NE1 6BR.
The show weaves together two ancient Greek love stories: Orpheus and Eurydice, and King Hades and his wife Persephone. It blends folk, jazz, blues and contemporary American music into a theatrical experience that's described as deeply resonant and defiantly hopeful. It's a production that's picked up eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and a Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album. Over six million people have seen it, and it's been streamed nearly a billion times.
It's recommended for ages 12 and over, and the production uses strobe lights, smoke and haze. The Newcastle run is sponsored by Vertu.
