Concert by the hard rock duo Getdown Services at the Boiler Shop in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Getdown Services are back at Boiler Shop on Wednesday 25 November, their first return to the venue since they last played the stage. They're a hard rock duo split between Bristol and Manchester, and they describe their sound as tub-thumping and groove-infused.
They've been on the road since their 2023 debut Crisps, which they followed up the next year with the EP Primordial Slot Machine. The two records give you a good sense of where they're coming from: Crisps as the starting point and Primordial Slot Machine as the more recent addition. Between the two, there's plenty to pull from for a live set, so you'll get a mix of the early stuff and the newer material.
As a duo, they're just two people on stage, and the 'groove-infused' part of their description points to the kind of hard rock that's as much about the rhythm as the riffs. It's the sort of thing that works well in a room like Boiler Shop, where the focus stays on the band and the music.
