A candlelight concert featuring a curated selection of timeless love songs performed by the string quartet Aurora Strings at The Common Room.
Aurora Strings are playing a Candlelight concert at The Common Room on Friday 12 February 2027. It's a tribute to love songs, with the string quartet taking on a curated selection of them rather than a set by any one artist. The whole thing is played by candlelight, and the music is the only thing on the bill.
The venue is the Wood Hall of Neville Hall, a heritage building in Newcastle upon Tyne that's home to The North of England Institute of Mining & Mechanical Engineers. It reopened in 2021 after major conservation work, so it's a bit of a local landmark in its own right. The evening is billed as a chance to celebrate love and create lasting memories, with the quartet bringing those love songs to life.
On the practical side, doors open at 17:45, forty-five minutes before the 18:30 start, and the concert lasts an hour. Late entry isn't permitted, so it's worth getting there early. There's no on-site parking, and the retail bar is cashless, serving light snacks and refreshments. The minimum age is 8, and under-16s have to be accompanied by an adult.

Tickets start from £26.25. They're sold by zone, and seats are assigned on a first-come basis within each one, so the sooner you get in, the better your spot. It's a tribute concert, not a show by the original artists, and it's not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by them, their estates, or their official representatives.
