A monthly book club for fans of Young Adult fiction where readers discuss titles and engage in creative projects like fan fiction and cosplay.
The Young Adult Book Club runs at Newcastle City Library on the first Thursday of every month, from 4:30 to 6:00 pm. It's a drop-in session, so there's no need to book ahead—you just turn up when you fancy it. The library is at 15 Laman Street, Newcastle 2300, and it's free to attend.
It's built for fans of YA fiction, and the whole thing is open to teens and adults of all ages, so you don't have to be a teenager to join in. The sessions are about reading, discussing and getting creative with your favourite titles. They introduce some of the books that have defined the genre, and from there you can expand that written universe with your own projects: writing fan fiction, drawing character art, 3D printing models, cosplay and more. If you've got a particular series you're obsessed with, it's a good place to bring it up and see who else is on the same page.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Newcastle and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

Because it's a monthly thing, it works as a regular fixture rather than a one-off. It runs every first Thursday of the month except January, so if you miss one, there's another coming around a few weeks later. It's a free drop-in at Newcastle City Library, 15 Laman Street, from 4:30 to 6:00 pm.
