Children aged 5-15 meet Australian author George Ivanoff, who reads from and talks about his children's book 'You Choose MEGA: Prehistoric Peril'.
Atlas Book Lovers Club is running two sessions for kids aged 5 to 15 at Newcastle City Library this spring. The first is on Tuesday 27 October, 4pm to 5pm, and the second on Tuesday 24 November, 4pm to 5pm. Both are free, but you'll need to book ahead.
Each session brings in a different Australian author to read from their work and talk about where they find their inspiration and the best parts of their job. On 27 October, George Ivanoff presents You Choose MEGA: Prehistoric Peril. On 24 November, Dianne Wolfer presents Soaring with the Sugarbird Lady. The sessions are strictly spoiler-free, so you can go in without worrying about the endings being ruined.
It's part of the Atlas program, a State Library of NSW initiative that runs hands-on sessions for 5 to 15-year-olds with experienced professionals. Book Lovers Club sits alongside an Art Club and a Young Writers Club, and the sessions aren't just about the authors — kids also interact with library staff, other children in the library, and Atlas Club members from across the state via Zoom. The program is supported by the John B Foundation.
