Bestselling Australian author Tricia Stringer discusses her latest book, The Paradise Resort, sharing insights into her writing process and the stories that drive her work.
Tricia Stringer is coming to the Newcastle City Library on Wednesday 28 October for a talk about her latest book, The Paradise Resort. It's a free session, though you'll need to book your spot in advance.
Stringer is a bestselling and multiple award-winning author whose work covers a fair bit of ground — contemporary fiction, rural romances, and historical sagas, all set in Australian communities past and present. She grew up on a farm in country South Australia and has spent most of her life in rural towns, running a post office and a bookshop and working as a teacher and a librarian. That background comes through in her writing, which often centres on the kinds of small-town dynamics and community ties she's lived with herself.
During the talk, she'll discuss the inspiration behind The Paradise Resort, her writing process, and the stories that drive her work. The novel itself is set in a luxury Kimberley resort where the manager, Nelda, is determined to protect a secret that could destroy the resort and the community it supports. It's a story about the things people keep hidden to protect what they care about, and the tension that builds when those secrets start to fray.

Copies of the book are available through MacLean's Booksellers, and Stringer will be signing them after the talk, so if you want a copy for her to sign, it's worth picking one up beforehand. The session runs from 6:00pm for an hour at the library on 15 Laman Street, Newcastle NSW 2300. It's free, but bookings are essential.
