Artist Clare's first solo show celebrating familiar moments of Australian coastal life, with local music, food and a kids' colouring corner.
Clare brings her first solo show to the Dixon Beach Surf Club on Sunday 27 September, with the exhibition opening at 3pm. The show is called When We Were There, and it's a collection that celebrates familiar moments of Australian coastal life through people, places and memories.
It's a solo exhibition, so the work is all hers, and the coastal theme sits right at home at the surf club. The title When We Were There points to the kind of things the show is about — those shared, recognisable bits of life by the coast that most of us will recognise from our own time spent near the water. If you've spent any time on the coast, you'll know the sort of scenes she's working with: the people, the places and the memories that stick with you.
It's not just the art on the walls, though. The exhibition is paired with an afternoon of art, local live music and food, so you can hang around and take your time with the work rather than just drifting through. There's also a kids' colouring-in corner, which makes it a bit easier to bring the whole family along without worrying about keeping the little ones occupied while you're looking at the paintings.
