A wine dinner where Torbreck wines are paired with a set menu, including a side-by-side pour of Torbreck's 'The Factor' Old Vine Shiraz and a roaming cheese trolley.
Vine & Dine: Torbreck comes to Jana Restaurant & Bar at QT Newcastle on Friday 31 July, part of the winery's second series of dinner events. The night is built around the Barossa, with each course paired with a pour of Torbreck wine, and the whole thing running through five courses and eight pours.
The standout of the evening is a side-by-side pour of The Factor Old Vine Shiraz, comparing the 2016 and 2023 vintages from the same vineyard. It's a rare chance to taste two different years from the same plot back-to-back, so if you're into how a single vineyard changes over time, that's the bit to look forward to. The night wraps up with a roaming cheese trolley, which keeps the wine and cheese going well after the courses have finished.
Jana is a neighbourhood favourite in Newcastle, and they describe it as adding a touch of Positano to the city's roots. It's known for an open kitchen and a focus on simplicity and sustainability, serving housemade pasta and Hunter Valley wine. The dinner takes place there, at 185 Hunter Street, with the Torbreck wines taking centre stage for the night.
