Free multisport day for people with disabilities to try sports like athletics, swimming, football and cycling in an inclusive environment, with a meet-and-greet with Paralympians.
CPSARA is bringing their Connect Day to the Newcastle Basketball Stadium on Saturday 5 December, from 10:30am to 1:30pm. It's a free multisport day run by the Cerebral Palsy Sporting and Recreation Association, with support from Disability Sports Australia, and it's open to people of any type of disability who want to try out new sports in a safe, fun and inclusive environment. Family members and siblings are welcome to come along too, so you don't have to show up on your own.
The morning is about having a go at different sports, and it doesn't stop there. There's a light lunch and social time for everyone, and a meet-and-greet with Paralympians, so you can chat with athletes who've played at the highest level. It's as much about the social side as the sporting one.
CPSARA works to open up sporting and recreational opportunities for people of all ages with cerebral palsy and other neurological conditions, with participation ranging from fun and fitness to international and Paralympic level. Their programmes include an Athlete Mentor Program run by athletes for athletes, and a Parent Mentor Program that connects new para-sport parents with experienced ones. Athletes can get involved in sports like athletics, swimming, football and cycling.
