A New York-style comedy club showcase featuring live stand-up performances from local and guest performers.
The Newcastle Comedy Club is running its showcase on Friday and Saturday nights, starting this weekend on 18 and 19 September. It's a regular fixture on the city's comedy calendar, and it keeps going well into next year — the dates run through October, November, and December, then pick back up in January, February, and March, and keep rolling on through April, May, June and into early July 2027.
The showcase is held in a New York-style room at the Newcastle Comedy Club, 139 Maitland Road in Islington. The bill spotlights local talent from the Newcastle region alongside special guest performers travelling in from Sydney, Melbourne and beyond, so you'll get a mix of home-grown acts and names coming from interstate. The club has a history of attracting major names in Australian comedy, including Wil Anderson and Tom Gleeson, and it positions itself as the go-to destination for the hottest comedy shows in town.

It's a full venue, not just a stage, so you can make use of the bar and the restaurant on the night. The room is non-smoking. Tickets are A$39.00 to A$42.00, and with the showcase running every Friday and Saturday night for months, it's an easy one to slot into a weekend whenever you're in the mood for a night of stand-up.
