A stand-up comedy showcase featuring local talent from the Newcastle region alongside special guest performers from Sydney, Melbourne and beyond.
The Newcastle Comedy Club is running its showcase on Friday and Saturday nights, starting this Friday 11 September at the Newcastle Comedy Club, 139 Maitland Road in Islington. It's a New York-style room right in the heart of the city, and the showcase is their regular weekend fixture.
The bill puts local talent from the Newcastle region front and centre, with special guest performers travelling in from Sydney, Melbourne and beyond. The club has a history of attracting major names in Australian comedy, including Wil Anderson and Tom Gleeson, and it's built its name as a go-to for the hottest comedy shows in town. On any given night, you'll get a mix of local faces and visitors from across the east coast.
It's a full venue, not just a room for a show: there's a bar and a restaurant on site, so you can eat and drink before the comedy starts. The room is non-smoking, and the club welcomes people with access needs. If you're planning to make a night of it, the restaurant means you don't have to scramble for dinner elsewhere first.
