A New York-style comedy club showcasing local and guest comedy talent in the heart of Newcastle.
Newcastle Comedy Club is running its showcase on Friday and Saturday nights, starting 18 July 2026 and continuing through to 30 April 2027. It's a New York-style comedy club in the heart of Newcastle, and the showcase is the main thing they've got going on there.
The format is pretty straightforward: they put local talent from the Newcastle region on the same bill as guest performers coming in from Sydney, Melbourne and beyond. It's a mix of the two, so you'll get a few names you might recognise from around the city alongside comics who've travelled in for the night. The club has a history of attracting some of the bigger names in Australian comedy, with Wil Anderson and Tom Gleeson among them, which has helped make it a bit of a go-to for comedy in the area.
As for the venue itself, it's at 139 Maitland Road in Islington, 2296. There's a bar and a restaurant on-site, so you can grab a drink or a meal before the show, and it's a non-smoking venue. They've also got facilities that welcome people with access needs, so it's one to keep in mind if that's something you're thinking about.

Tickets are A$39 to A$42, and since the showcase runs every Friday and Saturday night from 18 July through to the end of April, you've got plenty of dates to choose from rather than just one weekend.
