Stand-up comedy set by Michael Hing at Newcastle Comedy Club.
Michael Hing is playing the Newcastle Comedy Club on Saturday 5 September, with the show starting at 6pm. It's a solo hour of stand-up, and the title is How Are We Supposed to Live Like This?.
If you haven't come across him before, Hing is a comedian and podcaster known for a relatable style that doesn't rely on a big persona. He's been on Double J and is one of the voices on the Dragon Friends podcast, so he's well-versed in the conversational, off-the-cuff side of comedy. The Sydney Morning Herald described him as 'endlessly funny', which is a fair place to start if you're trying to figure out what he does.
This particular show is a new hour, so it's not a polished best-of from his previous work. It's a full set of new material, and the title How Are We Supposed to Live Like This? gives you a good idea of where it's heading โ the kind of observational comedy that looks at the everyday absurdities we all just sort of put up with. It's the sort of set that works best in a room like the Comedy Club, where the energy of the crowd feeds into the performance.
