An evening of life drawing sessions run by The Tipsy Sketching Club, combining sketching with drinks and food in a relaxed pub setting.
The Tipsy Sketching Club are hosting a life drawing session at the Lambton Park Hotel on Thursday 15 October, one of their regular nights in the pub. It's a simple enough setup: a live model, a room full of people sketching, and a few drinks and snacks on the side. The club describes it as a place to combine sipping, snacking and sketching with fun and frivolity, and that's pretty much the whole point of the thing.
The session runs for about two hours, and the poses are timed, ranging from quick two-minute sketches to longer thirty-minute studies. There are breaks in between for drinks and food, so you're not expected to keep your head down the entire time. If you've never done life drawing before, it's a good way to ease in: the shorter poses let you get a few quick ideas down without overthinking it, and the longer ones give you a chance to actually sit with a drawing and work it out. All mediums are welcome, so you can bring charcoal, pencils, paint or whatever you prefer.
One of the best things about it is that you don't need to be an artist to show up. The club invites people who are just curious about life drawing, those who've been sketching for years, and anyone who's just after a fun night out with friends. All artistic abilities are welcome, and drawing materials can be supplied on the night, so you don't even need to bring your own kit if you're coming empty-handed. It's as much about the social side of the pub as it is about the drawing.
