Giant Steps Single Vineyard Release Dinner

Giant Steps are coming to the Customs House Hotel on Wednesday 26 August for a single-vineyard release dinner, with Michael Latham hosting the evening. It's a night built around the Yarra Valley producer's 2025 single-vineyard release, and the whole thing is guided by Latham, who'll walk you through the wines as they come out.

The evening starts with a glass of Giant Steps Circle of Fifths Chardonnay on arrival, and from there you'll work through the winery's award-winning Single Vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir releases. It's not just a tasting, though — the wines are paired with a premium shared feast from Executive Chef Sean Townsend and the Customs House kitchen team, so you're eating as you go rather than just sipping. The shared format means the food comes out for the table to pass around, which suits a long dinner like this.

Customs House Hotel is a landmark on Newcastle Harbour, a modern pub in an iconic heritage building right by the water. It does dining, cocktails and a beer garden — the city's largest, and a local favourite for harbour views, relaxed drinks and live entertainment, which has been a thing there since 1995. The dinner itself runs from 6:30pm to 9:00pm, and bookings are essential. It's A$199 per person.
