An Australian comedy roast show where RuPaul's Drag Race queens deliver savage insults and outrageous performances in a theatrical setting.
Drag Roast is at the Civic Theatre Newcastle on Friday 28 August, part of a national tour hitting theatres across the country. It's billed as an Australian first: a comedy roast hosted by some of RuPaul's fiercest queens, who bring savage shade, killer punchlines and no mercy to the stage.
The format pairs outrageous performances, jaw-dropping numbers and scandalous stunts with a room full of gag-worthy insults as the queens roast each other. No wig, no sequin and no diva is safe, and the whole thing is built around that kind of high-energy, high-stakes banter. If you've seen a roast before, you know the drill: the point is to take each other down, and the queens here do it with the full drag production around them.
It's a bit of a double-bill in one night, then. You've got the performance side โ the numbers and the stunts โ running alongside the roast, so it's as much about the spectacle as it is about the jokes. The queens are the ones driving both, taking turns on the mic and on the stage.
