The Buffalo Trace Newcastle Whisky & Craft Spirit Festival returns to Bartholomew's on Saturday 8 August, running from 12:00pm to 6:00pm. It's a day for anyone who likes a dram, with whisky, gin, rum, vodka and liqueurs all under one roof.
The festival has grown since its 2019 debut, and it's now a sellout event. It holds the title of the largest selection of spirits outside Australia's capital cities, which is why it pulls in whisky, gin, rum, vodka and liqueur devotees from across the region. Each year, around 350 guests gather to sample over 100 different products from more than 30 stall holders, so you'll find a fair bit to work through in a single afternoon.
That's the core of it: over 100 different spirits from more than 30 stalls, with whisky taking centre stage but plenty of room for gin, rum, vodka and liqueurs. It's a tasting event, so you can move from stall to stall and try a wide range of labels without having to commit to a full bottle of everything you fancy. If you're into spirits, it's one of the few times a year you'll find this many different producers in one room here in Newcastle.
