Best-selling author Tess Woods discusses her latest book The Cairo Bridal Shop with Lisa Ireland, with copies available for signing.
Tess Woods is coming to Newcastle City Library on Thursday 24 September, from 6pm to 7pm. She'll be in conversation with fellow author and podcaster Lisa Ireland, talking around her latest novel, The Cairo Bridal Shop.
If you're not familiar with her, Woods is an award-winning Australian Top 10 bestselling author of contemporary fiction. Her previous novel, The Venice Hotel, was an instant Australian Top 10 bestseller and made the shortlist for the ABIA General Fiction Book of the Year. She lives in Western Australia with her husband and two children.
The Cairo Bridal Shop is set in Egypt, centred on the iconic Albi Bridal Boutique at the foot of the pyramids. It follows three sisters โ Sarah, Aya and Lola โ as they break the shackles of tradition. The talk will touch on the book, but it also goes back further: Ireland joins her to discuss Woods' own childhood in Egypt and her family's migration to Australia, so you'll get a bit of the personal history that sits behind the story.
