Free jazz night at Jazz Central Studios with the Wormdove vs Rawtwhylah pairing, with Beck Anderson on bass and Colin Mitchell on drums.
Wormdove and Rawtwhylah take the stage at Jazz Central Studios on Saturday, October 31, starting at 7 PM. They're joined by Beck Anderson on bass and Colin Mitchell on drums, and the whole night is built around a specific framing: the two are billed as a rivalry known through many lifetimes, two spirits meeting again in a colosseum setting. It's a high-concept setup for a jazz date, and the pairing doesn't just play once — they'll be back up at 9 PM and 11 PM, so you can catch them at different points in the night.
Jazz Central Studios is a 501(c)(3) non-profit in the Old St. Anthony neighborhood of Minneapolis, and the evening is presented in part by the Minnesota Regional Arts Council and the Musicians Performance Fund. The studio's mission is to cultivate an inclusive jazz community through performances, workshops, and educational programs, and they live-stream their Friday and Saturday night shows — and select Thursdays — from 8 PM to 9:30 PM, free and online. If you can't make it in person, that's one way to still hear them.
