Post-bop jazz quintet led by trombonist Jered Byford plays standards, originals and reharmonizations at Jazz Central Studios.
Jered Byford leads his quintet at Jazz Central Studios on Friday, October 30, from 8 PM to 9:30 PM. Byford is a trombonist based in Southern Minnesota and an alumnus of the Frost School of Music in Miami, where he was a co-winner of the ITF Carl Fontana International Trombone Competition. The quintet's repertoire leans on post-bop standards, originals, and reharmonizations.
Byford shares the stage with four other musicians: Ted Godbout on piano, Calvin Caron on bass, Race Hoglund on saxophone, and Ben Ehrlich on drums. The night is presented in part by the Minnesota Regional Arts Council and the Musicians Performance Fund.
Jazz Central Studios is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that works to strengthen the Twin Cities jazz community through performances, workshops, and educational programs. It's located in the Old St. Anthony neighborhood on the west bank of the Mississippi, across from the Aveda Institute at the corner of 4th Street Southeast and Central Avenue Southeast. The studio live-streams its shows every Friday and Saturday night, so if you can't make it in person, you can still catch the set from home.
