Guitarist and singer-songwriter Willy Porter and his quartet play his Grammy-nominated immersive album 'Humans in a Room' live, with new material and songs from his catalogue.
Willy Porter and The Humans in a Room Quartet play Icehouse on Friday, December 4, 2026. The set is built around Porter's immersive recording Humans in a Room, which the quartet will perform in its entirety, alongside new material and songs from his catalog.
Humans in a Room was named a top Grammy-nominated project this year. Porter conceived it as a collaboration between four musicians and a microphone company, driven by a desire to record as simply as possible and give the listener a seat in the middle of the session. Live, the group uses a unique immersive playback system they've been developing to replicate that studio recording on stage.
On guitar and vocals, Porter is joined by cellist and vocalist Mai Bloomfield, who has worked with Jason Mraz and Raining Jane; singer and percussionist Carmen Nickerson; and multi-instrumentalist Ryan Pearl. Together they're the quartet that gives the album its name.
