Community theater production of Kaufman and Ferber's 1920s comedy 'The Royal Family' by Classics Lost 'n' Found Theater Company.
Classics Lost 'n' Found Theater Company is bringing The Royal Family to Lake Nokomis Presbyterian Church this November, with performances running November 6-7, 13-14, and 20-21, all at 7 PM, plus a 2 PM matinee on Sunday, November 15. The production is directed by Steven LaVigne.
Written by George S. Kaufman and Edna Ferber, The Royal Family is a 1920s comedy loosely based on the Barrymore family, one of the most famous acting dynasties in American history. It follows a star-struck, swash-buckling, over-the-top acting family forced to make a rough transition back to reality. If you've ever wondered what it's like inside a house where everyone treats their living room like a stage, this is that story.
The production comes from Classics Lost 'n' Found, a local community company celebrating its tenth year in 2026. Many of its founders were long-time members of the Corcoran Park Players, which started back in 1982. In 2017, the group renamed itself to dedicate its repertoire to classical playwrights and original scripts with a classic bent, and its mission is to revive timeless theater classics. Beyond the mainstage, the company also runs an Actor's Workshop taught by Barcy Stricker.
