Interactive courtroom drama in which the audience serves as the jury and decides the verdict in a murder trial inspired by true events.
The Jury Experience is taking over the Granada Theater in Uptown Minneapolis starting Sunday, November 8, with two shows that day at 4:30 PM and 7:00 PM. It's a live courtroom drama where you don't just watch the trialβyou serve as a juror. You listen to witness testimony, examine the evidence, and cast the vote that decides the accused's fate. Each case is a standalone story, and the show is staged as a series of trials set right here in Minneapolis.
The case on the docket this time is inspired by true events: the son of a powerful politician took the wheel of the family speedboat on a summer night and left one person dead and another in a coma, landing him a murder charge. It's not a clean-cut whodunit; the production deals with domestic violence, emotional manipulation and alcohol use, and includes moments of intense emotional conflict. By the time it's your turn to vote, you'll have to weigh the evidence against the human mess behind it.
The Granada Theater at 3022 Hennepin Ave S is a good fit for a courtroom drama. It was a silent film house in the 1920s and still wears its Spanish-Revival architecture, so it's got a bit of old-world character to it. The show is for ages 12 and up, and anyone under 16 needs to be accompanied by an adult.

Each performance runs 60 minutes, and the production continues through December 13, so you've got plenty of dates to choose from beyond the opening Sunday. Tickets are $51.50 to $62.
