Double album release show pairing the Minneapolis supergroup The Friend Ship and singer-songwriter Doyle Turner with The Sweet Beans at Icehouse.
The Friend Ship and Doyle Turner and The Sweet Beans are playing Icehouse on Saturday, February 6, 2027, for a double album release show. It's a bill that brings together two Twin Cities acts on the same night, each with a new record to mark the occasion.
The Friend Ship is a Minneapolis supergroup that pulls together five local names: Nikki Lemire, Matthew French, Dave Mehling, Marc Severin, and Joel Sax. They started playing together on Sax's debut album and put out their first EP, All Aboard!, in 2026. This show is their next step, with a new album coming out alongside the date.
Doyle Turner is a singer-songwriter from the White Earth Nation, based in Bemidji and a member of the Americana band The International Treasures. He's spent the last few years picking up songwriting awards: he won the 2026 Dylan Fest Songwriter Contest, took first runner-up at the 2025 Great River Folk Festival Songwriting Contest, and was a 2023 Red Lodge Songwriting Contest finalist. His new album, Inland, is a retrospective of his upbringing on the backroads of Naytahwaush, at the heart of the White Earth Nation. Critics have described his sound as rootsy twang married to rock 'n' roll energy.
