Screening of Alfred Hitchcock's 1951 psychological thriller 'Strangers on a Train' at the Riverview Theater, part of the Hitchcock Fest.
Riverview Theater is screening Alfred Hitchcock's Strangers on a Train (1951) over three dates this week: Sunday, October 25 at 2:20 PM; Monday, October 26 at 6:45 PM; and Tuesday, October 27 at 4:45 PM. The film stars Farley Granger, Robert Walker, and Ruth Roman, and it's part of the Hitchcock Fest running at the theater from Friday, October 23 through Thursday, October 29.
Adapted from the Patricia Highsmith novel, the story follows tennis star Guy Haines, who is enraged by his wife's refusal to finalize their divorce so he can marry a senator's daughter. During a train journey, he strikes up a conversation with a stranger, Bruno Anthony, and unwittingly sets in motion a deadly chain of events: psychopathic Bruno kills Guy's wife and urges him to reciprocate by killing Bruno's father, leaving Guy as murder suspect number one. It's one of Hitchcock's psychological thrillers, and it's well known for its tense, ambiguous ending. The film runs 101 minutes and is rated PG for some violence and tension.
