Free holiday art market with local artisans and special sales at Seward neighborhood businesses, followed by a festive wrap party with tacos and Cajun dance music.
The Seward Frolic and Holiday Art Market returns to the Seward neighborhood on Saturday, December 5, running from 10 AM to 9 PM. It's a free holiday event put on by the Seward Civic and Commerce Association, the Seward Neighborhood Group, and the Vine Arts Center.
The day works on two fronts. During the day, it's a holiday art market showcasing local artisans, with special sales and events at neighborhood businesses. In the evening, it shifts into a festive wrap party with free tacos and Cajun dance music from the New Riverside Ramblers.
Because it's spread across the neighborhood, you'll find things in a few different spots. The Matthews Park Recreation Center is at 2318 29th Ave S; the Vine Arts Center and open studios are in the Ivy Building at 2637 27th Ave S; the Northern Clay Center is at 2424 E Franklin Ave; and Foci Minnesota Center for Glass Arts is at 2213 Snelling Ave. The market has long ties to the area's small business scene, which has grown around dates like Small Business Saturday—the retail phenomenon coined by an American Express campaign in 2010 that's since driven billions of dollars in sales nationwide.
