Annual showcase of original artworks by MCAD students and alumni, with all proceeds going to the artists and student scholarships.
The MCAD Art Sale returns to the Minneapolis College of Art and Design from Thursday, November 19, through Saturday, November 21, 2026. It's the college's annual showcase, and they bill it as the Twin Cities' favorite event of the year, held only once. If you've been before, you know the scale: thousands of original artworks by student and alumni artists hang from floor to ceiling throughout the galleries, so you're walking through a pretty dense forest of work.
The range is wide, and it's not just paintings. You'll find photography alongside furniture and jewelry, so it's as much about things you can use in your home as it is about things you hang on a wall. Because it's an alumni sale too, you're seeing work from people still in school and those who've been out in the professional world for a while, all in the same room.
One thing that sets this apart from a typical gallery show is where the money goes. Every purchase supports the makers: all proceeds go to the participating artists and to MCAD student scholarships. So if you take something home, the money goes back to the person who made it and to the students coming up behind them.
