Comedian Murray Hill celebrates his memoir 'Showbiz!' with a cabaret-comedy show, special guest Dick Van Dyke and the Baloney Sandwiches Band.
Murray Hill returns to the City of Lakes on Thursday, October 29, at The Parkway Theater in south Minneapolis. He's touring his new memoir, Showbiz! My Life as a Middle-Aged Man!, and the show is built around it. He describes the format as one mic, one man, one band, and a lifetime of materialβa cabaret-comedy set that pulls from his own history rather than a standard stand-up routine.
If you recognize the name but can't quite place the face, you might know him from HBO's Somebody, Somewhere, the critically acclaimed series where his comedic timing really stepped into the spotlight. That same sense of timing is what he's leaning on here, and the show is billed as a celebration of the memoir, so expect the stories to come straight from the book. It's a night that sits somewhere between a comedy set and a cabaret, with the music acting as a backdrop to the storytelling.
He won't be up there alone. The Baloney Sandwiches Band provides the live music, and the evening features a special guest appearance by Dick Van Dyke. Between the band and a guest like Van Dyke, it's a full stage for a show that starts with just one person and a microphone.
