Weekly Sunday farmers market with local produce, artisanal foods and crafts at MLK Park in south Minneapolis.
Kingfield Farmers Market is back at MLK Park on Sunday mornings, running from mid-May through the end of October, with a Holiday Market to follow. It's south Minneapolis's longest-running farmers market, now in its 25th season. The Kingfield Neighborhood Association started it in 2001 to bring fresh food to the neighborhood and build community; it's operated as an independent nonprofit since 2009, though the association still runs a table each week to connect neighbors and keep them informed about local issues and projects. It began in a parking lot behind the now-closed Anodyne Coffeehouse and later moved to the north end of MLK Park.
It's a vendor-forward market that draws thousands of visitors each week, and it's built a reputation for small-batch favorites. LoveTree Farmstead brings goat cheese, Behind the Breadbox does cinnamon swirl bread, and Fruit & Grain makes blueberry lemon curd pop-tarts. Eat Me Bakery does lilac mini bundts, though those only show up during the short lilac-bloom season. Tera Forge also runs a knife-sharpening service alongside the food. On hot summer days, a wading pool fills in near the live music.
