A dual release show featuring Jeremiah Chiu and Josh Johnson, part of The Cedar's New and Experimental Music Series.
Jeremiah Chiu and Josh Johnson play The Cedar Cultural Center on Tuesday, November 3, as part of the venue's New and Experimental Music Series. It's a dual release show, meaning both are bringing new records to the stage at once. Chiu's Edge Conditions came out October 9, and Johnson is touring Animative, his third solo album.
Chiu is a Los Angeles-based synthesist, modular-synth builder, and visual artist. His work runs from solo electronic music to a duo with violist Marta Sofia Honer and the experimental quintet SML, which he co-leads. He got his start in Chicago's experimental scene, has released on International Anthem, and founded the LA studio Some All None while teaching at Otis College of Art and Design.
Johnson is a Grammy Award-winning producer and multi-instrumentalist. Animative blends soul-jazz, post-bop, and electronic minimalism. Outside his solo work, he plays in Jeff Parker's ETA IVtet and the trios Openness Trio and Uhlmann Johnson Wilkes, and he produced and performed on Flea's debut solo album, Honora.
