Free festival celebrating the cooperative model with more than 20 local co-ops, a food truck, free drinks, snacks, bingo and a cooperative art project.
Own It! A Co-op Fest comes to Broken Clock Brewing Cooperative on Thursday, October 29, from 4 PM to 7 PM, with doors opening at 4. It's a celebration of the cooperative model—member-owned businesses that put people first and keep the benefits close to home—and it marks Co-op Month. The festival brings together more than 20 local co-ops in one room, so you can meet a wide range of them in a single afternoon.
Minnesota is a particularly strong hub for this kind of thing. The state has more cooperatives per capita than any other in the U.S., with over 800 in total across credit unions, grocery, housing, energy, worker-owned, and agricultural co-ops. That includes four of the largest in the country and 15 of the top 100 agricultural co-ops. The festival is aimed at people new to cooperatives or anyone curious about ethical wealth building and greater community participation.
It's a co-hosted effort, with CoMinnesota, Cooperative Development Services, the Minnesota Credit Union Network, several Twin Cities grocery co-ops, and the Minnesota Coalition of Community Owned Real Estate all involved. On the floor, there's bingo, free drinks, snacks, and a cooperative art project to work on. A food truck will be on site, and the whole session is kid-friendly, so all ages are welcome.
