Weekly Tuesday night of bingo and raffles hosted by Roxy's Cabaret drag queens, with all proceeds going to local charities.
Drag Queen Charity Bingo is back at Roxy's Cabaret on Tuesday, October 21, as part of the venue's nightly entertainment. It's a bingo night hosted by the cabaret's own drag queens, with games and prizes throughout the evening and a meet-and-greet with the queens after the show. All the money from bingo cards and raffle tickets goes to local charities, including the organization's foster hounds.
Roxy's describes the night as one of glamour, laughter and community spirit, and it's just one of the things they do. The venue bills itself as Minneapolis' premier drag spot, with shows on Friday and Saturday nights, a drag brunch on Sundays at noon, and a rotation of karaoke, classic movie screenings and game nights. The room was created to honor the legacy of Roxy Marquis, a Twin Cities drag legend whose untimely loss inspired the space.
There's a bit more to the place than just the performances, too. Roxy's frames drag as an art form rooted in theater and performance that also ties into activism, with the queens advocating for LGBTQIA2+ rights and supporting causes like HIV/AIDS research, mental health and anti-bullying. That's the same spirit that drives the bingo night, where the games double as a fundraiser for local causes.
