Annual Halloween party at First Avenue with local DJs, a costume contest with cash prizes and a 18-and-over crowd.
First Avenue is hosting its annual Halloween party and costume contest on Saturday, October 31, in the Mainroom. It's a long-running tradition for the venue, billed as "The Best Halloween Party in Town" and a "Local Show," and it keeps to a familiar format: a rotating cast of local DJs and performers on the decks and a costume contest with cash prizes. This year, there's $1,000 in prizes up for grabs.
The music comes from a lineup of local DJs. Sophia Eris, Michael Grey, Izzie P, and the duo of McShellen and DJ Smitty will be spinning throughout the night, with Diane hosting. The whole thing is presented with the support of The Current, KS95, KVSC, WMCN, and BLNCD.
It's worth remembering where this is happening. First Avenue is more than just four walls, a soundboard, and a stage; it's the epicenter of live music and entertainment in Minneapolis, and it recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. The Mainroom is the venue's biggest room, and it's where the party takes place.
