35mm screening of Sam Raimi's horror film 'Drag Me to Hell' at the Trylon Cinema, part of the Evil Incantations cycle.
The Trylon Cinema is screening Drag Me to Hell on 35mm this Sunday, October 18. It's part of their Evil Incantations series, a run of horror films playing on film, and this one is Sam Raimi's 2009 supernatural horror. If you've only seen it on streaming or DVD, seeing it on a real 35mm print is a different experience—the colors pop more, the grain is there, and it's the way the movie was meant to be projected.
For those who haven't caught up, Drag Me to Hell is Raimi doing what he does best: mixing genuine scares with a streak of dark, mean-spirited comedy. The story follows a loan officer who, in an effort to climb the corporate ladder, denies a loan to an elderly woman. The woman puts a curse on her, and the rest is a slow-motion train wreck of a life falling apart. It's a movie about a woman trying to outrun a deadline she can't possibly meet, and it's as much a comedy as it is a horror film.

Seeing it as part of Evil Incantations puts it in company with other horror titles the cinema has been cycling through, so if you've been following the series, this is another one to add to the list. The Trylon is at 2820 E 33rd St in Minneapolis, and the screening is on Sunday, October 18.
