Dinosaur Jr., with the original lineup of J Mascis, Lou Barlow and Murph, play First Avenue in Minneapolis with support from Starcrawler.
Dinosaur Jr. play First Avenue on Thursday, March 4, 2027, with Starcrawler opening. It's the Mainroom, so there's plenty of room to spread out.
If you're not familiar with the name, Dinosaur Jr. are one of the most significant American rock bands of all time. The sound they pioneered in the late 1980s brought the crashing weight of lead guitar back to indie rock several years before Nirvana, and their first three albums—Dinosaur, You're Living All Over Me, and Bug—became cult masterpieces. The original lineup of J Mascis, Lou Barlow, and drummer Murph re-formed in 2005 for select live dates, and with the 2007 album Beyond they returned to the sound of that opening hat-trick. The band has recorded a sixth studio album in the two decades since that rebirth.
Opening for them is Starcrawler, who formed in Los Angeles in 2015 around vocalist Arrow de Wilde. They've opened for Beck, Foo Fighters, Spoon, and The Distillers, so they're no strangers to a big stage. Between the two, you've got a full evening of guitar-driven rock.
