The Damned perform live at First Avenue, supported by Flamin' Groovies, The Courettes and DJ Jake Rudh, as part of the 'Final Damnation 50' series.
The Damned play First Avenue on Monday, November 2, in the Mainroom. The night is presented by Extreme Noise Records as 'Final Damnation 50.'
The Damned formed in 1976 and have stayed active ever since, with 11 studio albums and several UK chart singles. They were one of the first bands to come out of the 70s British punk scene, and their dark lyrics and frontman David Vanian's rich baritone vocals pushed them toward the goth-rock sound they're known for. They've built a global following around their live shows.
They aren't the only ones on the bill. The Flamin' Groovies open, a band that goes back to 1965 when they started as the Chosen Few in San Francisco. Joining them are The Courettes, a Brazilian-Danish garage Wall of Sound duo formed in 2014 by Flavia Couri. DJ Jake Rudh closes it out — he's a Minneapolis club and radio DJ who hosts 'Transmission' on 89.3 The Current every Thursday night at 10 PM.
