Jazz night with the Chresten Hyde Quintet, led by Minneapolis drummer Chresten Hyde, at Jazz Central Studios.
Chresten Hyde leads his quintet at Jazz Central Studios on Friday, October 23, from 8 PM to 9:30 PM. It's a full ensemble on the stand: Hyde on drums, Ryan Freitas on saxophone, Toivo Hannigan on guitar, Patrick Adkins on piano, and Dan Carpel on bass.
Hyde is a Minneapolis-based drummer, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter who developed his musical voice while living in Chicago and Los Angeles. He's worked with Caroline Davis, the Chicago Afrobeat Project, and Kevin Washington & RA Spirit. These days he's performing with Kavyesh Kaviraj and Ryan Freitas in Changeling Trio, and with Conor Lee, alongside leading his own jazz trio and this quintet.
The night is presented in part by the Minnesota Regional Arts Council and the Musicians Performance Fund. Jazz Central Studios is a 501(c)(3) non-profit committed to strengthening the Twin Cities jazz community through performances, workshops, and educational programs.
