Family-friendly holiday concert with Ben Cook-Feltz, Leslie Vincent and Johnson & Drake, benefiting Rein In Sarcoma.
Ben Cook-Feltz brings his 6th Annual Holiday Shindig to The Cedar Cultural Center on Sunday, December 13, from 2 PM to 4:30 PM. It's an all-ages, family-friendly afternoon that's become a local tradition, and this year it's back with the same mix of seasonal standards and a few surprises. Cook-Feltz describes himself as a "long-lost Christmas elf," and the set reflects that: holiday classics, playful spins on the ones we all know, and songs from his 2020 release Merry BCF-ing Christmas!. The whole thing is rounded off with singalongs, tap dancing, and, for the fifth year running, a Christmas salute to Ozzy Osbourne.
He's not doing it alone. He'll be backed by an all-star band that pulls in members of Turn Turn Turn and the Wild Colonial Bhoys, along with Brent Fuqua. Jazz artist Leslie Vincent and folk duo Johnson & Drake also share the bill, and the afternoon is peppered with guest appearances from Mary Bue, Katy Vernon, the OK Factor, Jason Roberts, and Mother Banjo. It's a full afternoon of music rather than a single set.
There's a personal side to the show, too. Cook-Feltz is a sarcoma cancer survivor of more than 30 years, and he donates 100% of the event's proceeds to Rein In Sarcoma, a nonprofit that provides support and resources to people affected by sarcoma cancers. So the ticket goes to the cause as much as the music.
