Screening of the 1985 film 'Back to the Future' at the Riverview Theater, a classic cinema with new high-backed rocker seats.
Riverview Theater is screening Back to the Future on Wednesday, October 21, at 7:15 PM. It's the 1985 movie, starring Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, and Crispin Glover.
If you've never seen it, the story follows Marty McFly, a teenager from small-town California who gets thrown back into the 1950s when an experiment by his eccentric scientist friend, Doc Brown, goes awry. Traveling through time in a modified DeLorean, Marty runs into the teenage versions of his own parents and has to make sure they fall in love, or he'll cease to exist. All that while he figures out a way back to his own time and tries to save Doc Brown's life.
The theater is at 3800 42nd Ave South in Minneapolis, and it's one of those spots that still feels like a 1950s neighborhood cinema. The auditorium has been updated with high-backed rocker seats, digital sound, and state-of-the-art projection, and there's a spacious lobby with mod couches and chairs to hang out in before the movie starts. The 1950s vibe of the place fits the film's setting pretty well, too.
