Annual festival in which more than 150 florists create floral interpretations of works from the museum's permanent collection, with a free guided tour and family activities.
Art in Bloom returns to the Minneapolis Institute of Art from Thursday, April 22, through Sunday, April 25, 2027. It's the museum's annual celebration of art and flowers, presented by the Friends of the Institute, and it's a tradition that's been running for over four decades.
The format is the same as always: more than 150 individual and commercial florists create floral interpretations of selected works from the museum's permanent collection, and those arrangements are displayed throughout the galleries. Each year centers on a signature artwork from the collection, and the floral programming builds throughout the month of April before culminating in this four-day festival. The 2024 edition marked the festival's 40th anniversary, and the 2022 one, which coincided with the centenary of the Friends of the Institute, drew more than 30,000 visitors.
Beyond the floral displays, the festival includes a free guided tour and family-friendly activities for younger guests. The floral work is spread across the galleries, so you'll find it alongside the art it's interpreting. The museum is at 2400 Third Avenue South in Minneapolis.
