Concert by singer-songwriters Antje Duvekot and David Berkeley at The Cedar Cultural Center.
Antje Duvekot and David Berkeley share a bill at The Cedar Cultural Center on Saturday, January 16, 2027. It's a seated, all-ages show, so it's the kind of night that works as well for a date as it does for bringing the kids along.
Duvekot is touring her latest album, New Wild West, which she describes as a testament to her songwriting and a newly blazed trail in her career, marking a mid-life transition into a greater sense of self. If that sounds like a lot of heavy lifting for one record, the title gives it awayβit's an album about starting over and finding your footing when the ground shifts.
Berkeley brings a different kind of writing to the pairing. He describes his songs as finding the tragedy and the comedy in life, and the critics have had their say, too: the San Francisco Chronicle called him a "musical poet," and the New York Times praised his "lustrous, melancholy voice with shades of Tim Buckley and Nick Drake." Between Duvekot's new material and Berkeley's penchant for the bittersweet, the two should complement each other well on the same stage.
