One-hour informal chamber music concert by the string ensemble Accordo, with pieces by Bacewicz, Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky, presented by the Schubert Club.
Accordo plays Icehouse on Tuesday, February 2, 2027. It's a one-hour informal performance presented by the Schubert Club, and the program is pulled from three different works: Grażyna Bacewicz's Suite for Two Violins, Dmitri Shostakovich's String Quartet No. 9, and Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky's Souvenir de Florence for string sextet. Rather than playing any one of them in full, they'll be selecting movements from across the three.
If you haven't come across them before, Accordo is a string ensemble made up of current and former principal string players from the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and the Minnesota Orchestra. It's a way of bringing together the state's top orchestral talent for intimate, high-energy chamber music. They've been performing since 2008 to consistently well-attended audiences, and the Minneapolis Star Tribune named them "Best Chamber Ensemble," while Minnesota Monthly called them "the dream team of chamber music."
The concert is presented by the Schubert Club, Minnesota's first performing arts organization. This particular show is an abbreviated, one-hour informal repeat performance at Icehouse, which also hosts the ensemble's shorter programs alongside their larger Westminster Hall concerts. They also do an annual "Accordo with Silent Film" event at the Ordway, where they pair silent movies with original live scores by the group and guest composer and pianist Stephen Prutsman.
