All-ages benefit concert for the MN15 with hip-hop artist Nur-D, spoken word artist Isavela Lopez and Brandyn Lee Tulloch & Poetic Roots.
Nur-D headlines The Hook and Ladder on Saturday, November 7, for Abolish ICE: A Benefit Concert for the MN15. It's a midday show, with doors opening at 11 AM and the music starting at noon. The lineup brings together three very different acts: Nur-D, Isavela Lopez, and Brandyn Lee Tulloch & Poetic Roots.
Nur-D is a Minnesota hip-hop artist who mixes contemporary rap with '80s glam rock, pop, and funk. He's been around the local scene for a while: Citypages named him Best New MN Artist in 2019, and he later headlined First Avenue's 2020 'Best New Bands' show and won the 2021 Best Live Concert. He's shared the stage with national acts like MisterWives, Ludacris, and Tyler, The Creator, as well as the Grammy Award-winning Minnesota Orchestra.
Isavela Lopez is a multidisciplinary Indigenous artist and activist of Zapotec heritage from Oaxaca, Mexico. Her work spans spoken word, dance, and film, and it centers on Indigenous rights and climate justice. Brandyn Lee Tulloch & Poetic Roots are a collective of Black musicians who draw on the reggae and funk of the late '70s and early '80s. Between the three, you'll get hip-hop, spoken word, and reggae in one afternoon.
