The KNDS Fairey Band plays the soundtracks of 'A Grand Day Out' and 'A Close Shave' live, followed by a screening of 'The Wrong Trousers'.
Wallace & Gromit come to the Alexandra Palace Theatre on Sunday 1 November, with three of the duo's early films screened alongside a live brass band. The KNDS Fairey Band will play the soundtracks live to A Grand Day Out and A Close Shave, and they'll open the night with a half-hour set of brass band classics before a screening of The Wrong Trousers.
It's a run through the duo's early years. A Grand Day Out was their very first, the one where they jet off to the moon and have to escape a skiing fridge. A Close Shave is billed as a world first when played live in tandem with the band. Between them, they cover the start of the pair's adventures.
The KNDS Fairey Band has been playing since 1937 and claims to have won every elite event on the brass-band calendar multiple times. They're the ones providing the live score for the first two films, and the half-hour set of brass band classics that kicks off the evening. The venue, the Alexandra Palace Theatre, is a Victorian building that's had a major restoration but remains old and crumbly enough to feel artfully atmospheric.
