Aaron Sorkin's film about Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen, with Mikey Madison and Jeremy Strong, at the Barbican.
The Social Reckoning is screening at Barbican Cinema 1 from Friday 9 to Thursday 29 October, with a showing on Sunday 25 October. It's a companion piece to The Social Network, written and directed by Aaron Sorkin, who returns to the Metaverse with the story of the whistleblower who sparked the social media reckoning still playing out today. Inspired by true events, it follows a young Facebook engineer, Frances Haugen, who enlists the help of Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz to blow the whistle on the network's most guarded secrets. Sorkin directs a star-studded cast across one hour and 52 minutes of film, charting the next era of Facebook a decade and a half on from The Social Network's release.
On screen, Mikey Madison, who you'll recognise from Anora, plays Frances Haugen, with Jeremy Allen White, of The Bear, as Jeff Horwitz, and Jeremy Strong returning as Mark Zuckerberg. It's a fairly tight run — just over three weeks — so if you're planning to catch it, you've got a decent window to fit it in.
