London screening of the ski film 'We Can't Not', followed by an athlete Q&A and an afterparty.
We Can't Not is coming to BFI Southbank on Tuesday 27 October, part of a world-premiere tour that's hitting 26 cities and started in Innsbruck. It's a 60-minute ski film from Legs of Steel and Red Bull Media House, narrated by Sean Bean.
Rather than a standard highlight reel, it's a film about making a ski film. It follows British freeskier Paddy Graham, who's spent his whole life making them, and was shot against Alaska's terrain over two years. It doesn't just show the runs; it documents the waits, the gear anxiety, the helicopter drops, the doubt, the fear and the teamwork. It draws on wildlife documentaries and vlogs that break the fourth wall to put you inside the action. Along with Graham, the riders on screen include Kye Petersen from Canada, Markus Eder from Italy, Tom Ritsch from Austria and Finn Bilous from New Zealand.
The night doesn't end with the credits. After the screening, there's a Q&A with an athlete, and then an afterparty with CARI CARI. So you've got the film, a chance to hear from someone who was actually there, and a party to follow it all.
